We Take Requests! Have a unit not listed, we can almost certainly build a kit for it! Contact Us

We will match any competitor pricing for a similar kit. Our primary competitors have been forced to lower their prices since we have come on the scene, occasionally they will price a kit lower than ours. We will match that pricing if the kit quality is similar.

Authentic Parts

All our kit parts are procured from the manufacturer or authorized distributors with NO exceptions. There are absolutely no counterfeit parts in our kits…PERIOD!

Receivers? Ultimate vs Deluxe

We provide two kits for Receivers.

The Ultimate kit includes everything needed to fully restore your vintage receiver.

The Deluxe kit is ideal for those new to this process or on a more limited budget and does NOT include the tuning sections or any audio adjustment trimpots.

Documentation

All kits include extensive documentation. We believe in transparency!!! All our pdf documentation is available to anyone prior to purchase. Just ask! You’ll find our parts list, the service manual, an extensive Hints and Instructions Guide and more.

Please note: While our kits do not include a step by step guide to restoring every unit (we have kits for over 500 units and growing), the parts list, service manual and our hints and instructions guide are more than sufficient to get the job done right.

Capacitors

We proudly use only the best capacitors from known industry giants. The bulk of our caps are manufactured by Nichicon (electrolytic) & Wima (film). We also proudly use Kemet, United Chem-Con, Panasonic and Cornell Dubilier capacitors.

Signal path capacitors of 4.7uf or smaller are replaced using film caps.

Very large caps (filter and coupling caps used in amps and receivers for example) are often physically smaller than the originals.

Other Parts

Caps and transistors are the heart of a restoration kit. Receiver and Amplifier kits may also include replacements relays and replacement trimpots for Audio Adjustments.

We stock most of the common relays for vintage audio gear but there are still outliers. If the relay for your unit is unobtainable or non-stock, the kit is priced accordingly. Again, All our documentation is free and stocked relays are shown on our parts lists. Relays can be cleaned/burnished if need be.

We do not currently stock any mechanical parts like belts and pinch rollers

We do not currently stock lamps

We do not currently stock fuse resistors. Most units did not use them but a few (thanks Sansui) do. If yours need replaced, you will need to source those separately.

Shipping

Most kits are shipped by the next business day via USPS with tracking. On rare occasion shipping may be delayed a day or two if we are waiting on parts.

Kit parts come in solid boxes with parts in clearly labeled baggies separated by board. Also included on the baggie label is the total quantity of parts that baggie holds.

Service Manual or Packing Errors

While rare, both happen. If your kit is missing or has the wrong value for a given part, just let us know. In most cases, we will simply ship you the missing part. In very rare cases (mostly with international orders, we may instead offer a partial refund.

We strive to send you the right parts and appreciate your understanding when challenges occur.

We have corrected many service manual errors and continue to do so as needed. PLEASE contact use if you run into one not found on our parts list.

Restore NOT Repair

If your unit is unfunctional for an unknown reason, do not purchase and install this kit without first diagnosing the problem. Our kits are made under the assumption that the buyer has a functioning unit. While there are plenty of cases where a noisy or otherwise problematic unit will work perfectly after installing our restoration kit, unless you have already diagnosed the problem to bad caps or faulty transistors our kit replaces, assume our kit will NOT repair your unit.

We do offer some troubleshooting guidance in the Hints & Instructions document that may be of help. That document also has links to helpful websites and such. ChatGPT and related AI may also be of some initial help.

Production Changes

Some units saw minimal changes in the parts they used over the life of production. In most cases, we are aware of this and provide the parts for both versions of that unit. If your unit is an exception, again, let us know so we can get you the right parts and update our kits for future customers.

Transistors

Unlike electrolytic capacitors, transistors have a virtually indefinite lifespan if not abused. Our kits include ONLY those transistors we now know are noisy or otherwise problematic. The fact is, in many cases the original transistors in vintage audio gear outperform modern equivalents.

The above applies to most diodes as well. Our kits do often include replacements for some diodes.

We proudly supply OnSemi transistors when replacements are needed.

More on Transistors including pinouts of popular replacements is available in our Hints and Instructions Guide
